The unique microclimate of Green Valley allows members to play tennis all year ‘round. The tennis facility features six courts with state of the art lighting for your enjoyment, a viewing deck and social room, making your tennis experience an overall delight.
Led by our Tennis Pro, Steve DeVries, our Tennis Program is comprehensive to be sure to welcome beginners to the sport while introducing children through clinics and camps. Competitive players are serviced through individual and group lessons and clinics, USTA adult teams, and competitive tournaments. Fun socials are provided throughout the year to get members together and meet other new members.
Our courts await your arrival offering an exciting and challenging tennis experience. Serve up some friendly competition, practice your strokes, learn new strategies and hit lots of winners on Green Valley Country Club courts.
Fresh towels are available in the Social Room. Water coolers are at every court for a refreshing drink or take a short walk to the Terrace Cafe for a great dining experience or for a quick sandwich, snack, and beverage. There is an ice maker at the courts as well as Saturday morning beverage service. Need your racquet regripped or restrung, let our pro take care of that for you. Don’t have a racquet? Don’t worry, we do.
Ways to Play
Our courts are open year-round for play between 7am and 10pm. It is not necessary, but advised, to reserve a court in advance with our Pro. Occasionally the courts do fill up but not often. When this happens just contact the Pro to arrange for a time to play. Very rarely are the courts closed for an exclusive event. Even during league matches and summer camps we leave courts for members to play.

Meet Our Tennis Pro
Steve DeVries has been the Tennis Pro at Green Valley Country Club since April 2009. He feels especially at home at GVCC because he learned his tennis right here at the Club when his family moved here in 1978. He went on to become the No.1 junior in Northern California in the 16’s and 18’s. Steve won four individual and two team sectional titles while at Armijo High School, which recently got him inducted into the Inaugural Class of the Sac Joaquin Section Hall of Fame.
Steve went on to play at Cal on a full scholarship and played No.1 singles all four years. He was a three time All-America while at Cal, and in 2016 was inducted into the Cal-Berkeley Sports Hall of Fame. After college tennis, he went on to play nine years on the ATP Tour. Steve with his doubles partner, David Macpherson, won doubles titles at Indian Wells, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Brisbane, Australia. In 1992, they qualified for the World Doubles Finals in Johannesburg, South Africa for the top 8 teams in the world. Steve was inducted into the USTA NorCal Hall of Fame at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford University in August, 2017. See pictures from the event on the Facebook page here.
Steve’s favorite victories, however, were his singles title right here in Fairfield, and also one in Whistler, B.C.
When Steve retired from tennis he fell into coaching and has found that to be very rewarding. Steve has experienced every level of tennis and is inspired to guide people through what it takes to improve and enjoy the game of tennis, a lifetime sport for all ages. He has coached top level pros on the ATP Tour, juniors, and people of all ages and abilities.
Steve lives here in Fairfield with his wife, Cristina, and his 3 kids Julie, Jack, and Nicole.
