Our Golf Professionals

 

Mark Sherman, a PGA Member since 1987, has been the Head Golf Professional at Green Valley Country Club since 1992.  A 1984 graduate of Fresno State University, Mark came to Green Valley after a brief stint on the Australasian PGA Tour and completing his PGA Apprenticeship at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno.  Winner of 25 Professional golf tournaments, Mark has represented Green Valley in events all around the world, but is proudest of his role as a husband and father.  His wife Lorie, son Trevor (’06) and Australian Shepherd Birdie comprise his immediate family.

Steve Walker has been an Assistant Golf Professional at Green Valley Country Club since 2004.  Steve completed his PGA Apprenticeship at Singing Hills Country Club and Resort, gaining his PGA Membership there in 1990.  Steve has lived in Green Valley since 1994.  Married to wife, Laurie; and proud father of daughter, Katie, born 1999.

Chandler Helmholz is a proud member of the golf shop staff and is an apprentice within the PGA program under the guidance of Head Professional, Mark Sherman.  An avid golfer for over 20 years, he enjoys teaching and gives individual lessons to club members looking to improve their scores. 

Aside from being at the Club, Chandler enjoys practicing golf, exercising, and time with family.  Chandler earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics in 1999 as a graduate of St. Mary’s College. 


 
 

Valerie Maio has been a member of the L.P.G.A Teaching & Golf Professionals division since 1989.  She is a 1987 Graduate of St. Mary's College.  She played mini-tour golf from 1987-1989.  Valerie has been a part of the Green Valley golf staff since 2004, teaching private and group lessons, women's and junior clinics, and assisting in the golf shop.

She enjoys time with her family, husband Ron and children Mackenzie (12) and Connor (8).  Valerie and her family reside in Benicia.
